Sodalite is a stone of frequent mistaken identity… Sodalite and Lapis can have inclusions of calcite however you can distinguish them by sodalite’s lack of pyrite inclusions.

This beautiful Piaget protocol model had a short run in 1999 as an anniversary edition to celebrate 125 years of Piaget. Looking back in brochures this model with a stone dial would have cost £15,000 or more depending on the stone choice.

The case size has the same layout of the vintage protocol from the 70/80s with a 25mm x 28mm sizing, ribbed bezel and cut off corners. However they added a bracelet with removable links to match the ribbed designed case which has a double deployment clasp. This model was offered in quartz and manual wind with this version fitted with a quartz movement.

We have been low key obsessed with 18ct white gold dress watches recently (as you can tell). The resurgence is bubbling away under the surface as more people want stealth wealth watches. They fly under the radar and it seems more people are finding it acceptable again to have diamonds and bright stones with white metal compared to yellow gold worn more regularly in daily life. We say more merrier.
